The Shrine

I went to the Shrine the other day with a couple of friends. The Shrine is a little “café concert” venue like we call it in Paris, with a very cool decor (old school vinyls all over the walls and ceilings, bistro tables and multi cultural vibe) in Harlem’s neighborhood, which by the way is becoming a hot spot for restaurants, lounges and bars… I love the concept of introducing to the public new talents coming from different musical backgrounds and giving them the opportunity to be discovered. One of the highlights that night  was Katerina Polemi, a half Brazilian half Greek song writer/musician/vocalist who gave a wonderful performance: her repertoire is so vast and personal going from bossa nova to Greek folklore with strong jazz music influences. Katerina plays guitar and sings with no background vocals or any type of distraction, however her voice is so powerful that it gives the impression she has a band hidden somewhere! I invite you to learn more about this artist here
