I apologize in advance because I feel I’m about to enter the zone of the eternal debate about lack of diversity especially in fashion and entertainment industries but unless you have been hidden under a rock or completely out of the loop regarding fashion and what’s trending, you are probably aware of all the fuss around these year’s September covers. This Miami Vice 80’s vibe just Like Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid, the two friends were spotted shopping together last month in Miami Beach (of course). As Summer is around the corner I’m all for white tee-shirts or crops paired with denims. To be relevant and depending on your style you can pick: either a mom jeans, fitted Levis 501, or boyfriend jeans (if possible ripped for the last two) with a light blue wash. And please, minimal make up or bare glowing skin with wet hair are required :)
On May 7th it was the biggest event of fashion royalty, the prestigious MET Gala which theme was “Heavenly bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, has highly inspired the fashion gotta. Among my favourites: Solange Knowles appeared (more…)

Last Month Vogue UK unveiled its new December issue cover featuring model and activist, Adwoa Aboah under the new editor in chief of the magazine, Edward Enninful. This is the first time that Vogue is naming a black editor to run one of their edition which makes it a collector issue. The cover embodies the peps and sensuality of the 70’s, when supermodels like Pat Cleveland were the queens of the catwalk and dance floors. We particularly love the colourful head wrap, a timeless accessory, symbol of feminity and flamboyance in the disco’s era, also adopted by intellectual feminist figures like Simone de Beauvoir in the 40’s or more recently by novelist’s Zadie Smith.

While everybody else chose safe options like flower print, embroideries and other embellishments, Sienna took a bet on simplicity at the last Golden Globes ceremony and it worked! The white gown from Michael Kors, that requires perfect abs, made the British-American actress look flawless. The ponytail and black bow gave her this youthful 60’s look and the sober pearls jewellery added just enough glamour to the all ensemble. This is how you dedramatize a red carpet attire without forgetting to be chic! What about you, which look(s) did you liked at the Globes this year??
Day to Day uniform: jeans, t-shirt, high heels, tote bag
1) Tell us about your professional background (studies, jobs…) and current occupation
I have started my studies in Kinshasa (DRC) then moved to Switzerland where I have attended secondary school, University and Masters in Business Administration. As a fresh graduate, I joined the global Financial Consultancy firm Deloitte in Geneva where I worked for ten years as Analyst.
I moved from being a Deloitte Analyst to being a Creative director behind the Handcrafted Luxury brand Kumesu. I’ve started my handbags accessories line in Lagos (Nigeria) in November 2014.
2) How did you came up with the idea of creating your own accessories line?
Finally my Spring Summer 17 Collections round up is here, everything you need to see from my favourite designers is on my Pinterest board. You can also check out some of my best looks here on the blog.
The silhouette: Urban sportswear, utilitarian chic, neo ballerina, volumes

The little plus: frills, feathers, studs, see through, cinched waist, statement accessory, plus anything paying tribute to 70’s glam rock era and David Bowie (metallic colours, bold make up, sequins…) (more…)
Chanel showed its 2016/17 Metiers d’Art Collection promoting luxury artisans skills, this season the theme was Cosmopolite. Privileged editors, clientele, celebrities and brand ambassadors gathered at the Ritz in Paris to see the models walking among (more…)
Platform boots, as seen in recent very hype Vetements clothing label’s collection, and Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 17 show. Influenced by the drag queens world and the 70’s glam rock (think David Bowie aka Ziggy Stardust), the platform shoe is no longer an outsider and brands like Zara or Asos propose wearable versions for the everyday fashionista. In 2016, we prefer a sober version in black leather or suede, the higher the better. But still, wearing the platform is a statement so be prepared to have heads spinning in the streets!
Forget about the old fashioned bourgeoise who lives in upper class neighborhoods and eats caviar on a daily basis, luxury brands are now adopting a totally different strategy in terms of renewing themselves or stay relevant in the fashion landscape. The new brand ambassadors are (more…)
Dramatic hair like spotted at this year Met Gala. First, let’s talk about Zendaya who took a real fashion risk by choosing a sleek shiny retro bob hairstyle, take French legendary singer Mireille Mathieu and add the glamour of the late 70’s disco era and you end up with a show stopper look. Her make up is just sophisticated enough to highlight her glowy toffee skin and dark almond shaped eyes with a warm palette colour. This is without a doubt her best look so far.
Actress Lupita Nyong’o, a red carpet favorite, did not disappoint neither. She opted for a proud kinky tower crown hairstyle which made her look gracious and empowered. It reminded me of Jean Paul Goude 80’s pictures with his muse Grace Jones, a real celebration of black feminity. Now, you know what to do to steal the spotlight at your next black tie party!
Until the complete report of my best looks for Fall 2016 shows, here is a selection of the best street style of the season on my Pinterest board. Trends start in the streets so have a look HEREand enjoy!
Who never dreamed of being a princess? This season designers made us fantasise about being one, like a 2.0 debutante. Based on the runway looks the targeted customer is definitely younger (and obviously (more…)
After the talented Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele has been named Creative Director of Italian luxury house, Gucci. The brand is entering a new era exploring more of the 70’s baroque prints and embellishments, going complete opposite of the glamorous 70’s power woman we were used to. Here are 3 reasons to rediscover the iconic house:
Today’s Gucci girl is a romantic, an original, she’s playful and totally assume her quirkiness. The last Spring Summer Collection (SS16) is full of rich fabrics and bold mix of patterns with a strong vintage feel.
I can not help but picture 70’s style icons Ali Mc Graw, Bianca Jagger or Marisa Berenson wearing most of the pieces of the collection and notice how relevant the clothing are as they would have been 40 years ago!
With its beautiful bucolic illustrations and jewellery details, the Dionysus bag is fast becoming a must have as well as the fur loafers (for those who can afford it)! Just perfect for Christmas gift!!
The very anticipated collaboration between Balmain and H&M arrived in stores (worlwide) on November 5th. Embellishment, sequins, body conscious dresses, padded shoulders, the French luxury house lovers won’t be disappointed: Balmain went full on in incorporated its DNA into a rich yet affordable collection. After Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant, Marni or Lagerfeld just to name a few, H&M once again took the fashion world by storm and we can predict that the Balmain x H&M line key pieces will be a huge it!
Aurora James is one of those character you want to know more about instantly. Obviously the girl is stylish, but the down to earth approachable kind, and her initiative has been catching everyone’s interest in the fashion game. After working in (more…)
