Platform boots, as seen in recent very hype Vetements clothing label’s collection, and Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 17 show. Influenced by the drag queens world and the 70’s glam rock (think David Bowie aka Ziggy Stardust), the platform shoe is no longer an outsider and brands like Zara or Asos propose wearable versions for the everyday fashionista. In 2016, we prefer a sober version in black leather or suede, the higher the better. But still, wearing the platform is a statement so be prepared to have heads spinning in the streets!
Dramatic hair like spotted at this year Met Gala. First, let’s talk about Zendaya who took a real fashion risk by choosing a sleek shiny retro bob hairstyle, take French legendary singer Mireille Mathieu and add the glamour of the late 70’s disco era and you end up with a show stopper look. Her make up is just sophisticated enough to highlight her glowy toffee skin and dark almond shaped eyes with a warm palette colour. This is without a doubt her best look so far.
Actress Lupita Nyong’o, a red carpet favorite, did not disappoint neither. She opted for a proud kinky tower crown hairstyle which made her look gracious and empowered. It reminded me of Jean Paul Goude 80’s pictures with his muse Grace Jones, a real celebration of black feminity. Now, you know what to do to steal the spotlight at your next black tie party!
This lovely black lace see through blouse and suede brown skirt seen on Margaret Zhang during NY fashion week. Miss Zhang, a favourite of mine when it comes to style, masters the combination of sexyness and the romantic aspect of this look with a touch of 70’s nostalgia. I will copy this asap!
For Beyonce’s ponytail and natural glowy make up at the Met Gala last month. Once again queen B stole the spotlight with her beauty and bejewelled embroidered gown by Givenchy. Ideal for Summer nights and keep your look young and fresh, the ponytail is an hair trend to copy immediately!
A silk faille full skirt or dress just like Taylor Swift above, who looked fabulous in her red and blush colour block Monique Lhuillier gown. A classic pointy satin or velvet (no leather please!) pumps will give an elegant final touch to the look, keep the accessories to minimum, with red lips, flawless skin tone and perfect hair. For a modern twist wear it with a coloured cropped top!
Colored hair…One way to lift up your mood and update your look and add a little bit of fantasy is to dare trying flashy hair colorations. The main inspiration being the blue hair from Abdel Kechiche’s movie, La Vie d’Adele, whether you choose to do a kaleidoscope style playing with shades like Katy Perry gorgeous mix of blue and turquoise or adopt Jamie King sophisticated hair locks you will be right in the trend of the moment! You can also go all the way like Kelly Osbourne famously known lavender color or get inspired by the celebs below, have fun!
Hot trend alert, the menswear wardrobe is everywhere. Just to name a few Marlene Dietrich or Katherine Hepburn did not hesitate to play with their femininity and sex appeal by adopting the very avant-garde, and a bit rebellious at the time, men’s uniform. During July Men’s and Paris Couture collections, the streets were full of fashion girls ditching platform heels for masculine attire. See below some of the greatest looks for inspiration snapped by genius street style photographer, Tommy Ton for style.com
A men’s suit just like singer Rita Ora. Everything work together: from the dark eyebrows to the bold necklace and multi ethnic bracelets on the wrists. Other cool detail the tee-shirt: Rita and model’s Cara Delevingne are best friends, what a great way to show your love and admiration to your bff?!
When it comes to style, some girls like Leelee Sobieskialways get it right which is almost annoying… But in a good way. It forces you to be more creative with your wardrobe, for example you have this loose simple tee shirt in your closet since forever and never find something to wear it with? Just copy Leelee and pair it with an elegant evening skirt (the slit and drape waist make the skirt here) plus killer pumps (no platforms please even if I love them) and here you are with a effortless stylish outfit that most of the girls will envy you!
A multi color striped robe like the one on Bianca Jagger. I would wear it for lazy Sundays at home, or belted on a fitted cropped pants and high heels for a Summer late night out. I just love the nonchalance of this piece and how you can play with it. Bianca of course looks divine in hers!
Difficult to resist these furry pumps by Celine, but I know what you are thinking: it’s definitely a challenge to pull them off unless you are a super fashionista. I’m pretty sure we will see a lot of them on street style blogs (promise I’ll try to post some pics if I see some) especially with fashion week around the corner!
For a luxury label tee shirt as worn by Kelly Osbourne. I already loved the way Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw styled her J’adore Dior tee in Sex and the City, so needless to say I was happily surprised to see Miss Osbourne showing that she can also rock her Celine tee shirt perfectly balanced with edgy details (hair, tattoos, accessories). Some will say it’s way too much and not classy to expose labels but when it’s done with humor and style, I say Yes!
Retro glasses, especially the cat eye shape for the dorky meets sexy style. Here are some of my favorites, despite the fact that I don’t wear glasses and the end of the Summer, I just want to buy a pair right away!
Tempted? Visit the following sites, you might find great eye cat at reasonable prices!
Flower dresses like Kirstin Stewart in a Zuhair Murad flowers embroidery cocktail dress at the last Toronto Film Festival, and a softer version worn by Keira Knightley in a Valentino gown with a flower headband to complete the romantic look.
